Mozambique, officially known as the Republic of Mozambique, is a country located in Southeast Africa. It is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and Eswatini and South Africa to the southwest.

In 2016, Mozambique had an adult obesity rate of 7.2%, ranking it 160th globally. This relatively low obesity rate can be attributed to the country's predominantly rural population and the high level of physical activity in daily life. However, urbanization and changes in diet are leading to an increase in obesity rates.
