Brunei (pronunciation: /bruːˈnaɪ/), officially known as the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace (Malay: Negara Brunei Darussalam), is a country located on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia.
Etymology
The word "Brunei" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Varuṇai" (वरुण), which means "seafarers" or "ocean". The Malay name for the country, "Brunei Darussalam", translates to "Brunei, the abode of peace".
