Somalia
Somalia (suh-maa-lee-uh)
Somalia (pronounced /səˈmɑːliə, soʊ-/; Somali: Soomaaliya; Arabic: الصومال, romanized: aṣ-Ṣūmāl), officially the Federal Republic of Somalia (Somali: Jamhuuriyadda Federaalka Soomaaliya; Arabic: جمهورية الصومال الفدرالية, romanized: Jumhūrīyat aṣ-Ṣūmāl al-Fiderālīyah), is a country in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Guardafui Channel and Somali Sea to the east, and Kenya to the southwest.
Etymology
The name "Somalia" is, in turn, held to be derived from the words soo and maal, which together mean "go and milk". This is a clear reference to the Somali pastoralist lifestyle.
Health in Somalia
