Liberia (liːˈbɪəriə)

Liberia is a country located on the West African coast. It is bordered by Sierra Leone to its northwest, Guinea to its north, Côte d'Ivoire to its east, and the Atlantic Ocean to its south-southwest. It has a population of around 5,000,000 and covers an area of 111,369 square kilometers.

Etymology

The name Liberia originates from the Latin word "liber" meaning "free". This name was chosen in recognition of the freedom that the country's founders, freed African American slaves, were seeking.

Health in Liberia

Healthcare in Liberia is a major concern, with the country having one of the highest rates of mortality in the world. The healthcare system is divided into three levels: primary, secondary, and tertiary. The primary level is made up of health posts, clinics, and community health departments. The secondary level consists of county hospitals, while the tertiary level is made up of referral hospitals.
