The name "Cape Verde" is derived from the nearby Cap Vert, on the Senegalese coast. In a Portuguese context, "Cabo Verde" translates to "Green Cape".
Geography
Cape Verde is an archipelago consisting of 10 volcanic islands. It is located off the coast of West Africa, and is part of the Macaronesia ecoregion.
