Seychelles

Seychelles (pronunciation: /seɪˈʃɛlz/ or /seɪˈʃɛl/), officially known as the Republic of Seychelles, is an archipelago and country in the Indian Ocean. The etymology of the name is derived from the French 'La Seychelle', named after Jean Moreau de Séchelles, Louis XV's Minister of Finance.

Geography

Seychelles is located northeast of Madagascar and about 1,600 km (994 mi) east of mainland Africa. The archipelago consists of 115 islands. The capital of Seychelles is Victoria, which is situated on the island of Mahé.

Health Care

Health care in Seychelles is managed by the Ministry of Health. The country has a health care system which includes district health centers, regional hospitals, and the main referral hospital, the Seychelles Hospital in Victoria.

Flora and Fauna

Seychelles is home to numerous unique species, including the Seychelles Black Parrot and the Seychelles Giant Tortoise. The islands are also known for their diverse marine life and coral reefs.
