Haiti, officially known as the Republic of Haiti, is a country located in Central America and the Caribbean. It is the third largest country in the Caribbean by area, and its capital, Port-au-Prince, is the country's largest city. The official languages are French and Haitian Creole. The country's currency is the Haitian gourde (HTG).

Obesity in Haiti[edit]

In 2016, Haiti had an adult obesity rate of 22.7%, ranking it 72nd globally. This is a significant health concern, as obesity can lead to a number of serious health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

Healthcare Facilities for Weight Loss[edit]

There are several well-known healthcare facilities in Haiti that offer programs and services for weight loss. These include:

  • Hospital Bernard Mevs - This hospital in Port-au-Prince offers a comprehensive weight management program that includes nutritional counseling, physical therapy, and surgical options for weight loss.
  • St. Damien Pediatric Hospital - Although primarily a pediatric hospital, St. Damien offers nutritional counseling and weight management programs for adolescents struggling with obesity.
  • Doctors Without Borders - While not a physical healthcare facility, Doctors Without Borders operates in Haiti and offers community-based health education programs, including those focused on nutrition and weight management.
