Zambia, a landlocked country located in the southern part of Africa, had an adult obesity rate of 8.1% in 2016. This ranked the country 155th globally in terms of obesity prevalence.

Overview[edit]

Obesity is a growing health concern worldwide, and Zambia is no exception. Despite having a relatively low obesity rate compared to other countries, the issue is still significant. The obesity rate is determined by the percentage of the adult population with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30.

Healthcare in Zambia[edit]

Zambia's healthcare system is a mix of public, private, and faith-based or NGO health providers. The government is responsible for healthcare policy and administration. The Ministry of Health (MOH) provides central direction and leadership for the health sector.
