Nilandron - (pronounced) (nih-LAN-drun) drug used to treat prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. It is used in patients who have had an operation (orchiectomy) on their testicles. Nilandrone binds to proteins called androgen receptors found in some prostate cancer cells. These proteins bind to androgens (male hormones) and can cause cancer cells to grow. Nilandrone blocks these proteins and can prevent cancer cells from growing. It's a type of antiandrogen. Also called nilutamide
