Gastroenteritis - (pronounced) (GAS-troh-EN-teh-RY-tis) Inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestines. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps (dull or stabbing pains). Gastroenteritis can be caused by bacterial, parasitic, or viral infection. It can also be caused by food poisoning, allergic reactions, or reactions to certain medications or foods
