Pregnant (IPA: /ˈprɛɡnənt/)
Pregnant is a term used to describe the state of carrying a developing embryo or fetus within the female body. This condition occurs after the successful fertilization of an egg by a sperm, which then implants into the wall of the uterus and begins to grow.
Etymology
The term "pregnant" comes from the Latin word "praegnantem", which means "with child". The word was first used in English in the 15th century.
