Adolescence (/ˌædəˈlɛsəns/; from Latin adolescentia, from adolescere, 'to grow up') is a transitional stage of physical and psychological development that generally occurs during the period from puberty to legal adulthood (age of majority).
Etymology
The term adolescence is derived from the Latin word adolescere, which means 'to grow up'. This term was first used in the 15th century to describe the period of life when a person is developing from a child into an adult.
