Sexual and reproductive health
Sexual and Reproductive Health
Sexual and reproductive health (pronunciation: seks-chu-al and re-pro-duc-tive health) refers to the complete physical, mental, and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system. It implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life, the capability to reproduce, and the freedom to decide if, when, and how often to do so.
Etymology
The term "sexual health" is derived from the Latin word "sexualis," meaning "relating to sex," and the Old French "healthe," meaning "wholeness, a being whole, sound or well." The term "reproductive health" is derived from the Latin "reproducere," meaning "to reproduce," and "healthe."
