Patrick County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,473. Its county seat is Stuart. The county was formed in 1791 and named for Patrick Henry, a prominent figure in the American Revolution and the first Governor of Virginia.
History[edit]
Patrick County was established in 1791 from a portion of Henry County. It was named in honor of Patrick Henry, who was a native of the area. The county has a rich history, including its role in the American Civil War and its development through the 19th and 20th centuries.
Geography[edit]
Patrick County is located in the southwestern part of Virginia, bordering North Carolina. The county covers a total area of 486 square miles, of which 483 square miles is land and 3 square miles is water.
