Carroll County is a county located in the southwestern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 29,155. The county seat is Hillsville. The county was established in 1842 from part of Grayson County, and it was named in honor of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
