Charlotte County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,473. Its county seat is Charlotte Court House.
History
Charlotte County was formed in 1764 from Lunenburg County. It was named for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the queen consort of King George III of Great Britain.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 478 square miles (1,240 km²), of which 475 square miles (1,230 km²) is land and 3 square miles (7.8 km²) (0.6%) is water.
