Marshall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 34,318. Its county seat is Lewisburg. The county was created in 1836 and named for John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

History

Marshall County was established on February 20, 1836, from parts of Bedford, Lincoln, Maury, and Giles counties. It was named in honor of John Marshall, who served as Chief Justice of the United States from 1801 to 1835.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 376 square miles (970 km²), of which 375 square miles (970 km²) is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km²) (0.3%) is water.
