Hamblen County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 64,834. Its county seat is Morristown. The county was created in 1870 and named in honor of Hezekiah Hamblen, an early settler and landowner.
History
Hamblen County was established in 1870 from parts of Grainger and Jefferson counties. The county is named after Hezekiah Hamblen, a prominent early settler in the area. The county seat, Morristown, was incorporated in 1855 and has since grown to become the principal city of the Morristown metropolitan area.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 176 square miles (460 km²), of which 161 square miles (420 km²) is land and 15 square miles (39 km²) (8.5%) is water. The county is part of the Great Appalachian Valley and is characterized by its rolling hills and fertile valleys.

As of the 2020 census, there were 64,834 people, 25,000 households, and 17,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 403 people per square mile (156/km²). The racial makeup of the county was predominantly White, with smaller percentages of African American, Asian, and other races.

The economy of Hamblen County is diverse, with significant contributions from manufacturing, retail, and healthcare sectors. The county is home to several industrial parks and has a strong presence of automotive and furniture manufacturing industries.
