Perry County, Tennessee
Perry County, Tennessee is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,366. Its county seat is Linden. The county is named after Oliver Hazard Perry, a naval commander who gained fame during the War of 1812.
History
Perry County was established in 1819 from parts of Hickman and Humphreys counties. The county was named in honor of Oliver Hazard Perry, a hero of the War of 1812. The county seat, Linden, was named after the Linden tree.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 423 square miles (1,096 km²), of which 415 square miles (1,075 km²) is land and 8.2 square miles (21 km²) (1.9%) is water. The Tennessee River forms the western boundary of the county.

As of the 2020 census, there were 8,366 people, 3,497 households, and 2,287 families residing in the county. The population density was 20 people per square mile (7.7/km²). There were 4,500 housing units at an average density of 11 per square mile (4.2/km²).

Notable people
- Buford Pusser, a law enforcement officer and subject of the movie Walking Tall, was born in Finger, but spent part of his career in Perry County.
