Lake County is a county located in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,005. Its county seat is Tiptonville. The county was created in 1870 and named for Reelfoot Lake, a natural lake formed by the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 194 square miles (500 km²), of which 166 square miles (430 km²) is land and 28 square miles (73 km²) (14.4%) is water. The county is located in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, also known as the Mississippi Delta.

Demographics
As of the 2020 census, there were 7,005 people, 2,837 households, and 1,812 families residing in the county. The population density was 42 people per square mile (16/km²). There were 3,315 housing units at an average density of 20 per square mile (7.7/km²).
Economy
The economy of Lake County is primarily based on agriculture, with soybeans, corn, and wheat being the main crops. The county also has a significant presence of aquaculture, particularly catfish farming. Tourism related to Reelfoot Lake is also an important part of the local economy.

Lake County is served by the Lake County School District, which includes Lake County High School, Margaret Newton Elementary School, and Lara Kendall Elementary School.

Notable people
- Carl Perkins, a pioneer of rockabilly music, was born in Tiptonville.
