Hardin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,062. Its county seat is Savannah. The county was founded in 1819 and named after Colonel Joseph Hardin, a Revolutionary War soldier and a legislator in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 596 square miles (1,540 km²), of which 577 square miles (1,490 km²) is land and 19 square miles (49 km²) (3.2%) is water. The county is located in the southwestern part of the state, along the border with Mississippi and Alabama.

The Tennessee River runs through the county, providing a significant natural resource and recreational opportunities. The county is also home to part of the Shiloh National Military Park, which preserves the site of the Battle of Shiloh.
