Henry County, Tennessee is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 32,199. The county seat is Paris. The county was established in 1821 and named for Patrick Henry, a prominent figure in the American Revolution.
Geography
Henry County is situated in the northwestern region of Tennessee. It is bordered by Calloway County, Kentucky to the north, Stewart County, Tennessee to the east, Benton County, Tennessee to the south, and Weakley County, Tennessee to the west. The county covers a total area of 593 square miles, of which 562 square miles is land and 31 square miles is water.
The county is part of the Tennessee River watershed, and the Kentucky Lake reservoir, created by the Tennessee Valley Authority, is a significant feature in the region. The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is located nearby, providing numerous recreational opportunities.
Demographics
As of the 2020 census, Henry County had a population of 32,199. The population density was approximately 57 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was predominantly White, with smaller percentages of African American, Native American, Asian, and other races. The county also has a small but growing Hispanic population.
Economy
The economy of Henry County is diverse, with significant contributions from agriculture, manufacturing, and retail. The county is known for its production of soybeans, corn, and wheat.
