The Nashville Metropolitan Area, also known as the Nashville-Davidson–Murfreesboro–Franklin, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area, is a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in Middle Tennessee. It is centered on Nashville, the capital and largest city of Tennessee. The area includes several surrounding counties and is a significant part of the larger Nashville-Davidson–Murfreesboro, TN Combined Statistical Area.
Geography
The Nashville Metropolitan Area is situated in the heart of Middle Tennessee, one of the state's three "grand divisions". The Cumberland River flows through the center of Nashville, providing a natural axis around which the metro area has grown.
