Grundy County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,703. Its county seat is Altamont. The county was founded in 1844 and named in honor of Felix Grundy, a U.S. Congressman and Senator from Tennessee.

History

Grundy County was established in 1844 from parts of Coffee, Marion, and Warren counties. The county is named after Felix Grundy, a prominent 19th-century American politician and jurist.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 361 square miles (930 km²), of which 361 square miles (930 km²) is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²) (0.1%) is water.
