Sheboygan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 118,034. The county seat is Sheboygan. The county was created in 1836 and organized in 1846.
History[edit]
Sheboygan County was established in 1836 and organized in 1846. The name "Sheboygan" is derived from the Ojibwe language, meaning "waterway between the lakes." The area was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi and Menominee tribes before European settlers arrived.
Geography[edit]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,271 square miles (3,290 km²), of which 511 square miles (1,320 km²) is land and 760 square miles (2,000 km²) (59.8%) is water. The county is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan.

As of the 2020 census, there were 118,034 people, 47,000 households, and 30,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 231 people per square mile (89/km²). The racial makeup of the county was predominantly White, with small percentages of African American, Asian, and other races.

The economy of Sheboygan County is diverse, with significant contributions from manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. Major employers include Kohler Company, Bemis Manufacturing Company, and Johnsonville Foods.
