La Crosse County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 120,784. The county seat is La Crosse, which is also the largest city in the county. The county was created in 1851 and is named after the La Crosse River.
Geography[edit]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 480 square miles (1,243 km²), of which 452 square miles (1,171 km²) is land and 28 square miles (72 km²) (5.8%) is water. The county is part of the Driftless Area, a region that was not glaciated during the last ice age.

Demographics[edit]
As of the 2020 census, there were 120,784 people, 48,401 households, and 27,937 families residing in the county. The population density was 267 people per square mile (103/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 89.5% White, 2.7% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 3.4% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 2.6% from two or more races. 3.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

La Crosse County is served by several school districts, including the School District of La Crosse, the Onalaska School District, and the West Salem School District. Higher education institutions in the county include University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, Western Technical College, and Viterbo University.
Transportation[edit]
Major highways in La Crosse County include Interstate 90, U.S. Route 14, U.S. Route 53, and Wisconsin Highway 16. The county is also served by the La Crosse Regional Airport.
