Wood County, Wisconsin
Wood County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,207. The county seat is Wisconsin Rapids. The county was created in 1856 and named after Joseph Wood, a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Geography
Wood County is situated in central Wisconsin. According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 809 square miles (2,095 km²), of which 793 square miles (2,054 km²) is land and 16 square miles (41 km²) (2.0%) is water.

Demographics
As of the 2020 census, there were 74,207 people, 30,000 households, and 19,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 93.6 inhabitants per square mile (36.1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was predominantly White, with small percentages of African American, Native American, Asian, and other races.
Economy
The economy of Wood County is diverse, with significant contributions from manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. The county is known for its paper production, with several large paper mills operating in the area.
Education
Wood County is served by several school districts, including the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools and the Marshfield School District. Higher education institutions in the county include the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point at Marshfield.
Transportation
Major highways in Wood County include Interstate 39, U.S. Route 10, and Wisconsin Highway 54. The county is also served by the South Wood County Airport and the Marshfield Municipal Airport.
