Waupaca County, Wisconsin



Waupaca County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,812. The county seat is Waupaca. The county was created in 1851 and organized in 1853.
Geography[edit]
Waupaca County covers an area of approximately 765 square miles, of which 748 square miles is land and 17 square miles is water. The county is characterized by its rolling hills, forests, and numerous lakes and rivers, including the Waupaca River and the Wolf River.

Demographics[edit]
As of the 2020 census, there were 51,812 people, 21,147 households, and 13,917 families residing in the county. The population density was 69.3 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was predominantly White, with small percentages of other races including African American, Native American, Asian, and Hispanic or Latino.

Education[edit]
Waupaca County is served by several school districts, including the Waupaca School District, Clintonville School District, and New London School District. Higher education is provided by institutions such as the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point at Wausau.
Transportation[edit]
Major highways in Waupaca County include U.S. Route 10, U.S. Route 45, and Wisconsin Highway 22. The county is also served by the Central Wisconsin Airport located in nearby Mosinee.
