Promacta is also used to treat severe aplastic anemia. It is also being studied in the treatment of other diseases and cancers. Promacta attaches to the thrombopoietin receptor, causing the bone marrow to make more platelets. It is a type of thrombopoietin receptor agonist. Also called eltrombopag olamine
