What is underwater diving?

Underwater diving is the practice of descending below the water's surface to interact with the environment. It can be done for various purposes, including recreational diving, commercial diving, scientific diving, and military diving.

Types of underwater diving

  • Free-diving – diving without the use of breathing apparatus.
  • Scuba diving – diving with a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus.
  • Surface-supplied diving – diving with breathing gas supplied from the surface.
  • Saturation diving – diving for extended periods with the use of a pressurized environment.
