Carlos Coste

Carlos Coste is a renowned freediver from Venezuela. He is best known for his numerous world records in the sport, particularly in the discipline of Constant Weight Apnea without Fins.

Early Life

Carlos Coste was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He developed a passion for the ocean and underwater activities at a young age, which eventually led him to pursue a career in freediving.

Career

Carlos Coste began his professional freediving career in the early 2000s. He quickly gained recognition in the international freediving community for his exceptional performances in various competitions. In 2003, he set a new world record in the discipline of Constant Weight Apnea without Fins, diving to a depth of 90 meters.

In 2006, Coste achieved another significant milestone in his career by becoming the first person to dive to a depth of over 100 meters in the Free Immersion Apnea discipline. This achievement further solidified his status as one of the top freedivers in the world.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Coste is also known for his contributions to the development of freediving as a sport. He has worked as a coach and mentor for aspiring freedivers, and has been involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting the sport and improving safety standards.

Personal Life

Carlos Coste is married to Gabriela Contreras, a fellow freediver and underwater photographer. They currently reside in Bonaire, where they run a freediving school.
