Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOC) is a specialized unit within the United States Navy responsible for conducting special operations missions. NAVSOC operates under the larger umbrella of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and is tasked with a variety of missions including counter-terrorism, direct action, special reconnaissance, and unconventional warfare.

NAVSOC was established to consolidate the Navy's special operations capabilities and to provide a unified command structure for these elite units. The command has its roots in the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) of World War II, which were the precursors to the modern Navy SEALs.
