Mesterolone cipionate
Mesterolone Cipionate is a synthetic androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) which was never marketed. It is the Cipionate ester of Mesterolone, which is itself a synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Pharmacology
As an AAS, Mesterolone Cipionate is an agonist of the androgen receptor (AR), the biological target of androgens like testosterone and DHT. It has strong androgenic effects and weak anabolic effects, as well as no estrogenic effects or risk of liver toxicity.
Chemistry
Mesterolone Cipionate, also known as 1α-methyl-5α-dihydrotestosterone 17β-cipionate or as 1α-methyl-5α-androstan-17β-ol-3-one 17β-cipionate, is a synthetic androstane steroid and a derivative of DHT. It is more specifically a derivative of Mesterolone (1α-methyl-DHT) where a Cipionate (cyclopentylpropionate) ester has been attached at the 17β position.
History
Mesterolone Cipionate was first described in the scientific literature in 1971. It is one of a few AAS that have been synthesized with a Cipionate ester, others including Testosterone Cipionate and Nandrolone Cipionate.
