Inlyta - (pronounced) (in-LY-tuh) A medicine used alone or with other medicines to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma (a type of kidney cancer). It is used in patients whose cancer has not yet been treated or whose cancer has not improved after treatment with another systemic therapy. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Inlyta blocks proteins called growth factor receptors, which can help prevent cancer cells from growing. It can also prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. Inlyta is a type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor and a type of anti-angiogenesis drug. Also called axitinib
