Eleventh major release of iOS mobile operating system
iOS 11 is the eleventh major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc., being the successor to iOS 10. It was announced at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5, 2017, and was released on September 19, 2017.
Features
iOS 11 introduced several new features and improvements over its predecessor, including:
- Control Center: Redesigned with customizable toggles and a unified page.
- App Store: Completely redesigned with a new layout and editorial content.
- Siri: Enhanced with more natural voice, translation capabilities, and deeper integration with third-party apps.
- Augmented reality: Introduction of ARKit, allowing developers to create augmented reality experiences.
- Files app: A new app to manage files stored locally and in the cloud.
- Multitasking: Improved multitasking features for iPad, including drag and drop functionality.
