AppleCare+

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

AppleCare+ is an extended warranty service provided by Apple Inc. for its hardware products. The service covers the repair or replacement of the Apple product, including parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians.

Overview

AppleCare+ extends the standard one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support provided by Apple to two or three years from the original purchase date of the device, depending on the product. The service also includes coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage every 12 months, subject to a service fee.

Coverage

AppleCare+ covers most Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, iPod, HomePod, and AirPods. The service provides global repair coverage, which can be particularly beneficial for customers who travel internationally.

Benefits

In addition to hardware coverage, AppleCare+ also includes software support. This means that customers can get help with iOS, macOS, and Apple apps, including questions about iCloud, Apple Music, and the App Store.

Cost

The cost of AppleCare+ varies depending on the device. For example, the service costs $199 for an iPhone 12, $129 for an iPad, and $249 for a Mac. Customers can purchase AppleCare+ with their new Apple device or within 60 days of their device purchase.

Criticism

While AppleCare+ provides comprehensive coverage, it has been criticized for its cost and the fact that it does not cover theft or loss. In response to this criticism, Apple introduced AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss in the United States.
