IPhone XS

iPhone XS is a smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. It is part of the iPhone series, succeeding the iPhone X. The device was announced on September 12, 2018, alongside the larger iPhone XS Max and the lower-priced iPhone XR, at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus. The iPhone XS retains the design of the iPhone X, featuring a 5.8-inch OLED display, stainless steel sides, and a glass back. It introduces several improvements over its predecessor, including a faster processor, upgraded cameras, and a new color option.
Design[edit]
The iPhone XS maintains the same design as the iPhone X, including a 5.8-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels, offering a high level of contrast and color accuracy. The front and back of the device are made of glass, with a stainless steel frame that wraps around the edges. It is available in three finishes: Gold, Space Gray, and Silver. The device is also IP68 dust and water-resistant, allowing it to be submerged in up to 2 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
Hardware[edit]
The iPhone XS is powered by the A12 Bionic chip, which is Apple's first 7 nanometer processor. It features a six-core CPU and a four-core GPU, which Apple claims provides significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency over the A11 chip found in the iPhone X. The device comes with 4 GB of RAM and is available in three storage capacities: 64 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB.
Camera[edit]
The iPhone XS features a dual-camera system on the back, consisting of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, allowing for 2x optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. The camera system supports Smart HDR, which improves high dynamic range photos, and the depth control feature, which allows users to adjust the depth of field in portraits after they have been taken. The front-facing camera is a 7-megapixel TrueDepth camera, capable of capturing high-quality selfies and supporting Face ID for device security.
Software[edit]
The iPhone XS ships with iOS 12, which introduces several new features, including Group FaceTime, Memoji, and Screen Time, a new tool that helps users monitor and manage their device use. iOS 12 also includes improvements to performance, especially for older devices.
Reception[edit]
The iPhone XS received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its improved performance, camera enhancements, and the addition of the Gold color option. However, some criticized its high price and the lack of significant design changes over the iPhone X.
