DiDi is a Chinese multinational ride-hailing company headquartered in Beijing, China. The company provides app-based transportation services, including taxi hailing, private car hailing, social ride-sharing, and bike sharing; on-demand delivery services; and automobile services, including sales, leasing, financing, maintenance, fleet operation, electric vehicle charging, and co-development of vehicles with automakers.

History

DiDi was founded in 2012 by Cheng Wei, a former executive at Alibaba Group. The company was initially established as a taxi-hailing app, Didi Dache, and later merged with its main competitor, Kuaidi Dache, to form Didi Kuaidi. In 2016, the company was rebranded as DiDi Chuxing.

Services

DiDi offers a wide range of services through its mobile application. These include:

  • Ride-Hailing: DiDi provides taxi hailing, private car hailing, and hitch (social ride-sharing) services. Users can request rides from their smartphone, and drivers nearby can accept the request based on the location and other factors.
  • Delivery Services: DiDi also offers on-demand delivery services. Users can order food, groceries, and other items through the DiDi app, and delivery personnel will deliver the items to the user's location.
  • Automobile Services: DiDi provides various automobile-related services, including car sales, leasing, financing, maintenance, and fleet operation. The company also collaborates with automakers to co-develop vehicles.
