Craig Federighi
Craig Federighi is a prominent figure in the technology industry, known for his role as the Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple Inc. He is responsible for the development of iOS, macOS, and Apple's common operating system engineering teams.
Early Life and Education
Federighi was born in 1969. He pursued his higher education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1991. He later obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the same institution.
Career
Federighi began his career at NeXT, a computer and software company founded by Steve Jobs. After Apple's acquisition of NeXT in 1997, he worked on the development of Mac OS X and its software framework, Cocoa.
In 2002, Federighi left Apple to join Ariba, a software and information technology services company, where he served as the Chief Technology Officer. He returned to Apple in 2009 and assumed the role of Vice President of Mac Software Engineering. In this position, he led the team responsible for the creation of Mac OS X Lion and Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
In 2012, Federighi was promoted to his current position as Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, following the departure of Scott Forstall. He now oversees the development of iOS, macOS, and Apple's common operating system engineering teams.
Public Appearances
Federighi is known for his charismatic and energetic presentations during Apple's annual WWDC. His presentations often include demonstrations of new software features and updates.
Personal Life
Federighi is known for his privacy and keeps his personal life away from the public eye. He is married and has children.
