Al Eisenstat

Al Eisenstat‏‎ (1927-1997) was an American attorney and corporate executive, best known for his role as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Apple Computer Inc. from 1980 to 1990.

Early Life and Education

Eisenstat was born in 1927 in New York City. He received his Bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1948 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1951.

Career

Before joining Apple, Eisenstat worked as a lawyer for several companies including IBM and Intel. He joined Apple in 1980 as the company's first in-house counsel. As the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Eisenstat was responsible for all of Apple's legal affairs. He played a crucial role in many of the company's key legal battles and was known for his ability to navigate complex legal issues.

Eisenstat was also known for his close relationship with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Despite their often contentious relationship, Eisenstat was one of the few executives who could challenge Jobs and was often seen as a moderating influence on the mercurial CEO.

Later Life and Death

After leaving Apple in 1990, Eisenstat served as a consultant for several technology companies. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 70.
