Tim Cook
Tim Cook is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple Inc., a multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California. He assumed the position in August 2011, succeeding Steve Jobs, the company's co-founder.
Early Life and Education
Timothy Donald Cook was born on November 1, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up in nearby Robertsdale, Alabama. Cook earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University in 1982 and later received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 1988.
Career
Before joining Apple, Cook worked at several other tech companies. He was the Director of North American Fulfillment at IBM, where he managed manufacturing and distribution functions for IBM's Personal Computer Company in both North and Latin America. Later, he served as the Vice President of Corporate Materials at Compaq for six months.
In 1998, Cook joined Apple Inc. as Senior Vice President for Worldwide Operations. He was responsible for managing all sales and operations worldwide, including end-to-end management of Apple’s supply chain, sales activities, and service and support.
Following the resignation of Steve Jobs due to health issues, Cook was named the CEO of Apple Inc. on August 24, 2011. As CEO, Cook has overseen the development and launch of new products like the iPhone 6, Apple Watch, and Apple Pay.
Personal Life
Cook publicly came out as gay in October 2014, becoming the first CEO of a Fortune 500 company to do so. He is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys hiking, cycling, and going to the gym.
Recognition
Cook has received numerous awards and recognitions for his leadership at Apple. In 2014, he was named the "Person of the Year" by the Financial Times. In 2015, Fortune named him the "World's Greatest Leader".
