Berrien County is a county located in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 18,160. The county seat is Nashville.
History
Berrien County was created on February 25, 1856, from portions of Coffee, Irwin, and Lowndes counties. It was named after John M. Berrien, a judge and United States Senator from Georgia.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 458 square miles (1,190 km²), of which 452 square miles (1,170 km²) is land and 6.0 square miles (16 km²) (1.3%) is water.

As of the 2020 United States census, there were 18,160 people, 6,800 households, and 4,800 families residing in the county. The population density was 40 people per square mile (15/km²).
Economy
The economy of Berrien County is primarily based on agriculture, with major crops including cotton, peanuts, and tobacco. The county also has a growing manufacturing sector.
Education
Berrien County is served by the Berrien County School District, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Berrien High School.
