Bacon County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,140. The county seat is Alma.

History[edit]

Bacon County was created on July 27, 1914, from parts of Appling, Pierce, and Ware counties. It was named after Augustus Octavius Bacon, a former U.S. Senator from Georgia.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 286 square miles (740 km²), of which 284 square miles (740 km²) is land and 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²) (0.7%) is water.
