Toy Story 4 is a 2019 American computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is the fourth installment in the Toy Story series and the sequel to Toy Story 3 (2010). The film is directed by Josh Cooley (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Andrew Stanton and Stephany Folsom; the story was conceived by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Josh Cooley, Valerie LaPointe, Rashida Jones, Will McCormack, Martin Hynes, and Stephany Folsom. The film features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Madeleine McGraw, Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Ally Maki, Jay Hernandez, Lori Alan, and Joan Cusack.
Plot[edit]
The story follows Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the toys as they embark on a road trip with their new owner, Bonnie Anderson. During the trip, Woody reunites with Bo Peep, who has become a lost toy. Together, they explore the world outside the toy box and discover new adventures and friends, including Forky, a spork-turned-toy created by Bonnie.

Production[edit]
The development of Toy Story 4 began in 2014, with John Lasseter initially set to direct. However, in 2017, Josh Cooley was announced as the new director. The film's screenplay was written by Andrew Stanton and Stephany Folsom, with the story being developed by a team of writers including John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Josh Cooley, Valerie LaPointe, Rashida Jones, Will McCormack, Martin Hynes, and Stephany Folsom.
Music[edit]
The film's score was composed by Randy Newman, who also wrote new songs for the film. Newman had previously composed the music for the first three films in the series.
Release[edit]
Toy Story 4 premiered on June 11, 2019, in Los Angeles, and was released in the United States on June 21, 2019. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
Reception[edit]
Toy Story 4 received praise for its animation, voice acting, humor, and emotional depth. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away" by Randy Newman.
