Planes: Fire & Rescue is a 2014 American 3D computer-animated comedy-adventure film produced by Disneytoon Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a sequel to the 2013 film Planes, a spin-off of the Cars franchise by Pixar. The film was directed by Bobs Gannaway and produced by Ferrell Barron.
Plot
The story follows Dusty Crophopper, a famous air racer who learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again. Dusty decides to shift gears and joins a forest fire and rescue unit to be trained as a firefighter. He teams up with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his team, including Lil' Dipper, Windlifter, Cabbie, and the Smokejumpers. Together, they battle a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

Production
The film was announced in 2013, shortly after the release of Planes. The production team aimed to create a story that would honor the bravery of real-life firefighters. Extensive research was conducted, including visits to national parks and meetings with firefighting professionals.
Release
Planes: Fire & Rescue premiered on July 15, 2014, and was released in theaters on July 18, 2014. The film was released in 3D and standard formats.
Reception
The film received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its animation and action sequences. It grossed over $151 million worldwide.
