Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins is a 2000 American direct-to-video animated science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. The film serves as a pilot for the television series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and is a spin-off of the Toy Story franchise.

Plot

The film follows Buzz Lightyear, a Space Ranger in the Galactic Alliance, as he battles the evil Emperor Zurg. Buzz is joined by a team of rookies, including Princess Mira Nova, a Tangean with ghosting abilities, Booster Sinclair Munchapper, a janitor turned Space Ranger, and XR, an experimental robot. Together, they work to thwart Zurg's plans to conquer the galaxy.

Production

The film was directed by Tad Stones and produced by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley. The screenplay was written by McCorkle and Schooley, who also served as the creators of the television series. The music was composed by Adam Berry.

Release

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins was released on August 8, 2000, by Walt Disney Home Video. It was later followed by the television series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, which continued the adventures of Buzz and his team.
