Los Angeles (pronunciation: /lɔːs ˈændʒələs/), often abbreviated as L.A., is the largest city in the U.S. state of California and the second-largest city in the United States.
Etymology
The name Los Angeles comes from the Spanish language, and it means "The Angels". The full original name was "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río Porciúncula", meaning "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels on the Porciúncula River."
