The Ohio Republican Party is the affiliate of the Republican Party (United States) in the state of Ohio. The party is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and is currently chaired by Bob Paduchik. The Ohio Republican Party is one of the two major political parties in the state, the other being the Ohio Democratic Party.

History

The Ohio Republican Party was founded in 1854, the same year as the national Republican Party. The party quickly rose to prominence in Ohio politics, with Salmon P. Chase becoming the first Republican governor of Ohio in 1855. The party has played a significant role in Ohio's political landscape ever since.

Ideology

The Ohio Republican Party adheres to the principles of conservatism, advocating for limited government, free-market capitalism, and individual liberties. The party supports lower taxes, Second Amendment rights, and pro-life policies.

Organization

The Ohio Republican Party is organized at the state, county, and local levels. The state party is governed by a central committee, which is responsible for setting party policies and strategies. The central committee is composed of members elected from each of Ohio's 88 counties.

The Ohio Republican Party has a strong presence in both state and federal government. As of the most recent elections, the party holds a majority in the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. The party also holds several statewide offices, including the governorship.
