John Fremont Hill (October 29, 1855 – March 16, 1912) was an American physician and politician who served as the 45th Governor of Maine from 1901 to 1905. He was a member of the Republican Party.

Early life and education

John Fremont Hill was born in Eliot, Maine, on October 29, 1855. He attended local schools before enrolling at the Medical School of Maine at Bowdoin College, where he earned his medical degree in 1877.

Medical career

After completing his education, Hill began practicing medicine in Boothbay Harbor. He quickly became a respected physician in the community, known for his dedication to patient care and his involvement in local health initiatives.

Political career

Hill's interest in politics led him to join the Republican Party. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 1888 and served until 1892. He then served in the Maine Senate from 1892 to 1896. His political career continued to rise, and he was elected as the 45th Governor of Maine in 1900.
