Haakon County is a county located in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,937. The county seat is Philip. The county was created in 1914 and named after Haakon VII of Norway.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,827 square miles (4,730 km²), of which 1,826 square miles (4,730 km²) is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km²) (0.05%) is water.
